Quick Links

Spent most of the day with the kids, so no real posting today. But here are some of the more interesting stories I came across today:

3 insurers quietly end a brokerage policy - I think this is very significant. When I worked at one of the big firms (actually one that is mentioned here) one of our best selling points when we were selling the multimillionaires was excess SIPC insurance. Losing that insurance is going to make things real interesting as the rich start moving money around to avoid the SIPC maximums.

Lastman wants Toronto spared - Just a wee bit elitist, in my opinion.

Social Security: Libertarians have better idea - It just might be workable. It's certainly a better deal than Social Security.

U.S., Saudi Leaders Reaffirm Relations, Cooperation - We reaffirmed? Reaffirmed what? That relations are less than optimal and that "cooperation" is a sham that is put on only for public relations benefit?

Iran-Pak strategic ties key to confronting US challenges: Pak - I really hope that Pakistan isn't thinking about forging stronger ties with the current Iranian regime. Now it is true that China, being a neighbor with India has a greater interest in the region, but the US isn't there solely for economic or investment reasons. We really are interested in seeing peace in the region.
