Yeah, I'd Be Scared

Oh no! Run for your lives! The UN is trying to organize a military force to provide peace in the Congo. And if its not bad enough that they think they can perform peacekeeping, they're asking the French to run it!

This really, really sounds like a very bad joke. The French had enough trouble when they went into the Ivory Coast without UN oversight.

But this won't even be a peacekeeping force in the traditional UN mold. They won't even be carrying the pretension of wanting to stabilize the country, they only want to provide security for the "airport and vital installations in Bunia."

The actual peacekeeping force in Bunia was just increased by 20%. All the way up to 750 strong.

This is an absolute joke of epic proportions. Only an idiot would say that the UN has had an effect in the country or that the current plan will have any effect in the country.

It wasn't just Iraq that caused the UN to lose credibility. It's been on a rapid downward spiral since Bosnia. This is just another example of why.
