Syria Wants Their Invitation Reprinted
I guess Baby Bashar of Syria wasn’t too happy with Powell’s invitation to join the world community. He is now claiming that he hasn’t decided whether or not he is going to curb terrorist groups operating in Syria. Not a brilliant move in the days of “with us or against us.”
What does he really hope to achieve by staking out this stance? This Administration has already shown that it doesn’t take kindly to folks that try to publicly tweak its nose. Ask the French or the UN. Actually Baby Bashar could just go down to the beach and ask the Iraqi government in exile. All of them, if they have half the brain that they were born with, will explain the risks that he is taking on.
But, of course, that will never happen. Bashar is going to attempt to prove the intelligence and cunning of the Arab race by pulling a fast one on the slow, straightforward Americans. He really isn’t understanding the situation here.
Powell said “shut them down.” Bashar has two choices: salute and shut them down or ignore us and get shut down. There is no “well let me think about it” or “the guy with the dynamite strapped to him is…is…is… a coal miner! Yeah, that’s it, he’s a coal miner!” Lying will not be tolerated. There is no opportunity to say “yes, sir!” and then to go on as if nothing was ever said. There is one right answer. Everything else will ultimately lead down the road of Bashar’s removal as Syrian President.
There are some who say that Bashar is being controlled and manipulated by his late father’s cronies. Maybe, but so what? We are dealing with the nation of Syria, not the moron or morons in charge. Our position is perfectly clear. If we go in to effect regime change, the regime changes – from top to bottom. We keep those who are worth keeping and the rest, well they get on a deck of cards.
Baby Bashar has a wonderful, wonderful and final opportunity to join the community of nations that are truly fighting terrorism. He had better understand that Powell’s spoken invitation was the best he’s going to get. If Rumsfeld has to send one, it’ll be stapled to a JDAM.
But at least then we’ll know that he got the message.
